Welcome to Greenwings!
It is our aim to take you to some of the most beautiful and wildlife rich places in Europe, to experience natural treasures and cultural pleasures. Our company was born from a love of the natural world and a desire to not only enjoy it but to respect and conserve it. Therefore, we want to do much more than merely visit, we want to invest in the conservation of the habitats and the species that make them special, hence our motto "observe and conserve".
We are proud to promise that from every trip we organise some of the profits will be donated to support wildlife conservation. Wherever possible the money will go towards supporting local projects in the places that we visit. Otherwise we will donate to a relevant national charity or national conservation organisation. You can be sure that when you travel with Greenwings you don't have to leave your green ethics behind.

Scarce Swallowtail Iphiclides podalirius
Despite its name the Scarce Swallowtail is a fairly common species in central and southern Europe. It differs from the European Swallowtail Papilio machaon as it has very distinct vertical black stripes and much longer tails. This large butterfly has a flight which is very mesmerizing to watch, as they float and glide effortlessly on the breeze with barely a wing beat! The females can be found fluttering around scrub and orchard habitats as they seek out egg-laying trees from the Prunus family, such as Cherry, Blackthorn and Almond.
